Business Development: Nurturing your business to create health, happiness and success

One of the central principles of an integral viewpoint is that not only are we responsible both for our own welfare and also, through our relationships, the welfare of others. So also is everyone else. This leads towards a compassionate outlook of care towards others, but it does not let people off the hook with lame excuses. When this is applied to a business it is enabled to have a caring and respectful attitude towards employees that encourages their overall happiness and appreciation of life, yet at the same time it produces respect, efficiency, success and loyalty in return.
This balance is achieved through a thorough understanding of the four main areas that dominate our lives.
When working with a company rather than a person the four main areas translate as:
As important as it is to resolve issues and find solutions to problems, it is equally important to find satisfaction and peace in the present moment that we find ourselves in. Often we can be successful in business and yet feel a lacking through our constant striving. As a result, all of this information is presented from a space of acceptance and peace with where we find ourselves, allowing solutions to grow from that peace rather than from a state of agitation. This generates solutions that are effective and address the real concerns rather than miss-direct our energies in unhelpful directions.
Practicalities
Practical application of this knowledge can be utilized in several ways and may be put in action with an entire business or a team within a larger company. The amount of detail that is explored can also vary a great deal. I can work with the managing directors, a wider a management team or the entire staff.
Projects always start with an initial consultation with the managing directors or team leaders that are initiating my services. This consultation ranges from 3 hours to a full day depending on circumstances such as the size of the group. The initial consultation is mostly an exploration of the business as it stands and an explanation of the theory, with some quick practical demonstrations. This initial meeting is then followed up with a written report and a further meeting of a similar length. The report presents an analysis of the company as it stands, exploring weak points and practical solutions, highlighting inconsistencies and showing how they can be woven together into a consistent whole.
After this initial consultation, further sessions can be arranged, either to explore a particular topic in depth or to expand the service to a wider team such as the management team or a team as a whole. These further consultations tend to be of a more practical nature. Exercises can be as varied as learning good computer practices to meditations that can help centre us in stressful situations. From self empowerment techniques to an examination of how staff communicate with each other in the office.
Telephone consultation is also offered after the initial meeting.
My business development practice works in association with several other business advisors including Spirit PR, for larger commissions we often bring each other on board. I also provide week long business retreats in the Spirit of Life Holistic Holiday Centre, these are hosted in conjunction with the director of the Spirit of Life. We explore all the issues expressed above in a relaxing Greek environment.

This balance is achieved through a thorough understanding of the four main areas that dominate our lives.
- Our Physical bodies, how we stay healthy and fit. What to do when we are unwell.
- The Relationships we share with others. Comprehending different kinds of relationship and communication. Resolving unhealthy attachment patterns that make life hard for ourselves and others.
- Our Personal Development, including our emotional and cognitive intelligence. How we perceive the world. Resolving psychological trauma and unhealthy thinking patterns from our past.
- The Environment we live in. The physical environment of our homes, work places and the ecological system of our planet. Also the social and political environments that we both support and depend on for our modern lives.
When working with a company rather than a person the four main areas translate as:
- Business Dwellings: Where buildings are situated, working environment in the office, ergonomics of work stations. Understanding the relationship between mental clarity and physical fitness; Intelligently encouraging the fitness of staff and how the business copes with illness. Internal support systems, including the computer network.
- Relationships: Between staff and also with customers and suppliers. Understanding the difference between personal and professional relationships.
- Personal development: Understanding key stages of awareness that individuals develop through and how applying this to staff members helps to utilise their best skills whilst also encouraging them to grow in ability.
- Business ideology: How does the company perceive other businesses, complementary and competitive. How does the business make money, is it supported by and in turn support the local, national and global economies. What role does it play in environmental, political and social policies.
